A new look for a front garden in Ashtead

I met my client, Norma, when I redesigned the planting around the Headmaster’s Lawn and Terrace at Danes Hill School where she works.  Norma wanted me to have a look at an existing raised bed at the front of her house as she had recently had to remove the plants in order to take out a diseased shrub.

Norma and her husband, Keith, were very keen to create a rockery effect to tie the planting in with the existing rockery either side of the driveway but they didn’t really know where to start.  Norma had seen a garden near Esher that she liked which had used topiary to give it some structure and she was hopeful that we could apply the same theory to the raised bed.

Norma was also very keen to introduce a shrub in the corner by the house wall which would enable her to hang some lights out at Christmas – something she had been doing since they moved into the house almost 40 years ago!
